Chainsaws are dramatic carving tools, used by few modern artists and mastered by fewer still. On temperate days,
you can often watch John create his unique wood sculptures in his outside carving hut; he wields his chainsaw,
sometimes removing massive volumes of wood at high speed, or delicately applying small details to a piece. Finishing
and texturing are done with traditional carving methods until the desired finish is achieved.
Sculptures can be left rough-sawn for outdoor placement, or finished with a polish, oil, or wax surface suitable for
interior display.
Gardeners treasure the carvings. The carvings are treated with linseed oil so they can remain outside all year round.
Many different types of wood including cherry, pine, poplar, walnut, and cedar are used to create sculptures in a
variety of sizes and prices.
